Definition
  • made Europe, specifically Germany, extremely weak and desperate.
  • put total blame for WWI on Germany, angering and humiliating the German people.
  • Set rest of Europe against Germany, incitng more anger in Germans
  • allowed for rise of Hitler/ Nazi party as weak germans looked for leader
  • led to innovations/ change in Europe after war

Definition

Fascism= glorification of state, single party with strong ruler, aggressive nationalism (pride in nation, desire for independence)

 

Takes away right of individual for benefits of state

 

led to single party in germany (Nazi), led weak people to be taken advantage of, rise of Hitler, brought Europeans together (in each Fascist country) and created strong bonds between people in one nation

  • used in form of posters, announcements, speeches, etc.
  • Similar to WWI, excecpt now only germany was portrayed as enemy
  • Hitler himself was form of propaganda (influential speaker , feeding people biased info)
  • used to gain support for party that was morally wrong (Nazi)

  • WWII was the most destructive war in history, with 55 million casualties
  • Tore apart Europe, broke millions of families
  • Jews, Homosexuals, Gypsies, and others targeted by Nazis suffered horrific conditions in concentration camps
  • In Asia, 200,000 japanese people died after the U.S. dropped 2 atomic bombs
  • Those who survived the war suffered from homelessness, starvation, clothing/ med shortages

SAME:

DIFFERENT:

  • WWI= caused mainly over imperialsm, WWII= caused manily over unchecked power (?)
  • WWI=Germany wrongly blamed for everything, WWII= germany more obvious culprit
  • WWI= trench warfare, WWII= more modern, less involved warfare (bombs...)
  • WWI= mostly Europe affected, WWII= global effects

Definition

Japan: rellied on others' raw materials, took alnd from China, ignored League's orders to return land

 

Italy: saw japan, took land from Ethiopia, Laegue tried to boycott Italy, but selectively boycotted (pointless)

 

Germany: acted driectly against Treaty of Versailles, built up military, copied other countries' "illegal" moves
