Definition

The 4 major causes of WWI were

Militarism- the glorification of the country, armed forces/military, social darwinism

Alliance System/Arms Race- fear and distrust lead to nations forming alliances for protection, Central Powers 

Imperialism- Economic competition, England threatened by Germany's powerful industrial growth and success

Nationalism- Bitter Rivals, France-German War, Pan Slavism, Crisis in the Balkans, large multi-national empires

Definition
Franz Ferdinand was the archduke of Austria and was murdered along with his wife Sofie by Gavrilo Princip on June 28th, 1914. This event started WWI.
