The Silk Road is a trade route between Asia and Europe that was later blocked, then reoped again.

Marco Polo was the son of Nicolo Polo, he made a trip east in 1271 with his father and uncle.  1292: set out for home, captured by Genoese.

son of Portugal's king, goal: send ships beyond Cape Bojador but turned back at cape every time.

Who was Gil Eannes?

Crossed frontier but didn't go far beyond that.  Other willing to follow in his lead.

He returned home with boxes of gold dust and ostrich eggs, captured Africans for slaves which started slave trade.

Line from North Pole to South Pole, Portugal-east, Spain-west, line later moved further west.

Magellan ailed to Indies, suffered form scurvy, reached East Indies by sailing west.

Conquer the Incas.

What was the Northwest Passage?

Waerway through northern section of America.

Who were the Sea Dogs and what was the main goal?

The Sea Dogs were basicaly pirateers who raided any Spanish ships.
