Serous Layer(Pericardium)

Inner Layer  and is divided into two parts: The parietal layer and the visceral layer.

Parietal Layer

is the serous layer that lines the fibrous pericardium

Visceral Layer

is the seruous layer that lines the heart. (also called the epicardium)

Pericardial Space

Space between the two serous layers

Pericardial Fluid

Liquid in the pericardial space. It prevents friction between the heart and the pericardium when the heart beats.

Epicardium

External layer of the heart; also part of the serous layer of the pericardium.

Myocardium

Middle and thickest layer of the heart; actual heart muscle.

Endocardium

Inner layer of the heart; lines the heart chambers and valves.

Coronary Arteries

(Because they resemble a crown)

Coronary Veins remove waste products from the myocardium
