The benefits of the servants were to become free after working for their Master for awhile. And to acquire land from their master.

Three main diseases that wiped out alot of the population are Malaria, Typhoid, and Dysentry.

Definition

Half the people born in early Virginia and Maryland did not survive to celebrate their 20th Birthday.

Few of the remaining Colonist were fortnate to live to their 40th or 50th birthday.

-The great majority of immigrants were single men in their late teens and early twenties.

-Women were out numbered 6 to 1 in 1650 and were still out numbered 3 to 2 at the end of the Century.

-Families were very rare in 17th Century and most families were destroyed by the death of a partner in first 7 year.

It was scarce to see a child with 2 parents living. And no one new their grandparents.

-In the start of the 18th century Virginia had the biggest population with 59,000 people

-Massachuesetts was 2nd in population size

-Maryland was 3rd with 30,000 people.

Tobacco Economy in the Colonies
Definition

-Tobacco was huge in the colonies. The hungry settlers often planted Tobacco before they planted Corn.

-The soil gradually became weak which led to settlers hunger for land and Indian attacks.

-Leaf Laden ships annually hauled some 1.5 million pounds of Tobacco out of the Chesapeake Bay.

Almost 40 million pounds of a year were transported to Europe.

About a thousand Virgians broke out of control in 1676, led by a 29 year old planter named Nathienal Bacon. One of the causes to Bacons Rebellion was when Berkley refused to retaliate for a serious of brutal indian attacks on frontier settlements, bacons and his followers  took matters into their own hand,
