Siege of Leningrad

Germans make it all the way to Leningrad but were stopped before they could make it to Moscow. Germans held Leningrad for 4-6 months. over 1 million of the citys 3 million citizens died.

Whats the plan?

Stalin wants to attack Germany. The offical plan was too invade North Africa and Italy in 1942.

Battle of Stalingrad

Hitler put over 200 divisions in the Battle of USSR. Most important Victory in WWII. August 1942-February 1943

Rommell:

Erwin Rommell. German General in Charge of Nazi Forces in  North Africa. Hated Hitler. was known as the "Desert Fox."

Battle of El Alamein

1942

British win against Rommell. Germans pushed into Libya by the British.

Operation Torch

US Forces push west and british push eat. D. Wight Eisenhower came from east with the French.

Fox Out.

Rommell returns to Berlin to tell Hitler that they lost against Britain. Hitler Fires Rommell.

Allies Next Move.

Invade Italy. Invade Sicily and Southern Italy with Air land and Sea attack.

Italy Action

Allied Forces met little resitance. Germans retreated into Nothern Italy in 1943. King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy fired Mussolini and took Italy out of the war on Septemeber 3, 1943.

Nazi's Fight Back

German forces attacked Italy and took control of Nothern half and Rome. Germans rescued Mussolini and put him back in charge.

Battle for Italy in 1944. Allies kicked Germans out of Italy and Rome in June 1944.
