Preform Air Leak Applied Test
Definition

1.Make sure the Tractor Parking Brake and Trailer Emergency Brake are applied.

2.Turn the key in ON position.

3.Release the Tractor Parking Brake and Trailer Emergency Brake. 4.When air pressure stabilizes (NO AIR LEAKING SOUND)

5.Apply the FOOTBRAKE firmly.

6.Tell the examiner- "I will wait for ONE (1) minute, in 1 minute vehicle should not lose more than 4 PSI IN A COMBINATION VEHICLE, 3 PSI IN A STRAIGHT TRUCK."

7.After One (1) minute has passed say:" Vehicle has not lost more than 4PSI in my combination vehicle"

8.Release the FOOTBRAKE.

Preform fan down 2 Test
Definition

 "Now I am going to perform Fan Down 2 test." 

1.Pumping down on the FOOTBRAKE (watch the knobs) 

2.When both knobs pop out tell the examiner "Both knobs should pop out, this indicates the mechanism responsible for applying spring brakes is working properly. Tractor Parking Brake should pop out between 40-20 psi, Trailer Emergency Brake should pop out between 45-20 psi.Trailer Emergency Brake must pop out first to prevent a jackknife"  

3.I will now Release the FOOT BRAKE. 

4.and TURN the key in OFF position

5.and Put it in my pocket

6.I will Step outside using 3 points of contact and remove the Wheel Chocks and put them in place.

 7.and then Enter the truck using 3 points of contact, and make sure that Tractor Parking Brake and Trailer Emergency Brake are applied.

8.than depress the FOOTBRAKE, and start the engine and build air pressure.

Definition

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION - well attached to the truck, properly secured, 7 pins inside and no corrosion. 

TENSION SPRING - well attached to the truck, not damaged, in good condition and has proper tension holds lines 6 to 12 inches above the catwalk.

2. Preform Foot brake Test

Definition

"Now I Am Going To Perform Foot brake Test"

1. Press the FOOTBRAKE and put the vehicle in the DRIVE (D).

2. Release Tractor Parking Brake AND Trailer Emergency Brake.

3. Slowly release the FOOT BRAKE.

4. Let the truck drive 10 to 15 feet.

5. Apply the FOOT BRAKE and at the same time let GO OFF of THE STEERING WHEEL.

6. When the truck stops, keep your foot on the FOOT BRAKE pedal.

"Truck stopped without pulling to any side, if it pulled to either side there is a problem with:

1) Tire Pressure.    2) Braking System.    3) Suspension.    4) Steering System.    5) Uneven Load

7. Apply the Tractor Parking Brake AND Trailer Emergency Brake.

8. Put the transmission in NEUTRAL (N).

9. Release the FOOTBRAKE.

Definition

"Now I'm going to perform the HANDBRAKE TEST."

1. Press the FOOTBRAKE and put the vehicle in the DRIVE (D).

2. release Tractor Parking Brake AND Trailer Emergency Brake.

3. Apply the handbrake and HOLD IT!

4. Release FOOT BRAKE.

5. Truck should not move.

6. Depress the FOOTBRAKE fully again Tell The examiner that the "Truck shook but did not move with the HANDBRAKE applied which means it is working properly."

7. Release the HANDBRAKE.

8. Apply Tractor Parking Brake AND Trailer Emergency Brake.

9. Put shifter in NEUTRAL.

10. Release the FOOT BRAKE.

Check if the Truck Parking Brakes and Trailer Emergency Brakes are applied, turn the engine OFF, put the key in your pocket, and go out of the cabin using 3 points of contact and say

"Now I'm ready for Coupling Section"

Definition
  1. WATER PUMP - not leaking, not damaged, belt driven.

  4. ENGINE OIL- remove the dipstick, clean it, reinsert it, and pull out again to check the oil level is above minimum.
  5. POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR - remove the dipstick, clean it, reinsert it and pull it out again to check the power steering fluid level above minimum.
  6. AIR COMPRESSOR - properly secured, gear driven, not leaking, not damaged.

  12. 3 PIECE STEERING LINKAGE - not missing parts, pins and nuts not missing, properly secured and connected.

Definition

U-BOLTS - properly secured to the axle, not not rusted thru, mounted to the frame and axle.

Definition
  1. Minimum thread depth 4/32 inch
  2. Same size, same kind on the same axle.
  3. Air pressure 100 psi.
  4. No nails, cracks or bulges.
  5. Recap tires are NOT allowed.

RIMS - no cracks, no welds, no bends around the edges, air valve nor leaking, cap not missing.

LUG NUTS - all present and tight, check for fresh rust around lug nuts, which will indicate looseness.

HUB SEAL - check the oil level, needs to be about 1 inch, 80W 90 gear oil. No oil leaks on the inside of brake drums.

RIMS - no cracks, no welds, no bends around the edges, air valve not leaking, cap not missing.

Definition

HUB SEAL - check the oil level, about 1 inch sows gear oil, no oil leaks on the inside of brake drum.

ABS LIGHT - on the driver side of the trailer. amber in color, once the engine starts should turn on and stay on for

2-3 seconds then turn off.

MUD FLAP - properly secured, no missing pieces, not touching the tire, 4 inches of the ground.

Definition
