- Although in the 19th century, transaltion was regarded as a serious method for helping writers explore the shape of their own native style, we begin to see a shift. - This shift was a result of the increasing number of 'amateur' translators - of whom many were British diplomats. - These amateur translators' job was more focus towards circulating works than a creative prcoess or the formal properties of the SL text. - Especially with the increase of nationalism and thus increased distinction between national languages at this time thus created a master-servant relationship. |
