May 31st 1916, off the coast of Denmark at Jutland. Between Britain and Germany, and the only sea battle. Whichever Navy controlled the seas controlled the trade routes. Britain wanted it to access her colonies and Germany wanted it for a blockade. In the end, the British were considered the victor, though they had lost more ships than Germany. Germany retreated to underneath the sea. |
