Definition
The best consequences are those that benefit the agent. Humans should act in their self-interest. The agent determines what the best consequences are (usually pleasure, wealth, fame, power). -Individual: Everyone out to act in my self-interest. -Personal: I ought to act in my own self-interest, but can't speak for what others ought to do. -Universal: Everyone should act in their own self-interest, regardless of others, unless other's self-interest is theirs. |
