Two Power Driven Vessels in Risk of Collision
Three steering and sailing situations: |
|
Definition
1. Meeting: coming head on should each blow one short blast and turn the wheel right for a port to port passage
2. Crossing: going to cross paths. The vessel who has the other on his starboard side should give way and cross the vessel behind giving one short blast
3. Overtaking: from a direction more than 22.5 degrees abaft her beam (would only be able to see the stern lights at night, not the side lights) should sound one or two short blasts and whistle signal while turning wheel in direction of whistle |
