How does a star form?

Definition
A star forms when gas and dust from a nebula condense. It produces an accreation disc that spins rapidly around it, gathering more material into it. Eventually it wiill have such a high temperature that a nuclear reaction takes place.
Term
What are the two types of nebulae?
Definition
Emission and Absorption.
Term
What is a nebula?
Definition
A cloud of gas, dust, ironized gases, hydrogen and helium in space and is where stars are formed.
Term
What happens to the excess material blown away from the force of the initial nuclear reaction?
Definition
It forms planets and other bodies around the stars.
Term
Give a description of Emission Nebulae.
Definition

Emission nebulae are clouds of high temperature gas. The stars inside warm the gas by ultraviolet radiation which causes the electrons in the gas to ionize and emit radiation; seen as light and radio waves. Hydrogen is the most common element inside the gas and when ionized, produces a red colour.

Term
Give a description of Absorption nebulae.
Definition
Absorption nebulae are clouds of gas and dust that block off the light from the stars inside it and so appear as a dark patch set against the Milky Way. They were first discovered by William Hershel.
