Term
Give biblical support for a young earth
Definition
- If you take the creation account literal, and add the geneologies from Genesis to Christ plus the 2,000 years since Christ we get apxt 6,000-20,000 years (a liberal number)
Term
Give extra biblical support for a young earth
Definition
- Since the earth's magnetic field is decaying at an exponential rate, its strength would have been unrealistically high 25,000 yeras ago. Thus, the earth is less than 25,000 years old.
- At the rate many star clusters are expanding they could not have been traveling for more than a few thousand years.
- The atmostpheric C-14 is presently only 1/3 of the way to an equilibrium value which will be reached in 30,000 years. Demonstrating the earth is less than 10,000 years old.
Term
Give biblical support for a 24 hour day
Definition
-No Israelite would have understood God's days of creation to be longer than 24 hours (the word yom).
- Adam was alive on day 6 and 7, if that were 1,000 or even 100 of years he would have to be much older than 930.
- The use of the term "evening" and "morning" indicate literal days (Gen 1:5)
Term
Give extra biblical support for a 24 hour day
Definition
- Our week is patterned after the creation week, 7 days in creation, 7 days in our week.
- Nothing is really gained by lengthening the creation days to accomodate the evolutionary timetable of earth history, for the revealed events are often in reverse order from that which evolutionism requires (earth before sun; whales before land mammals; birds before reptiles)
Term
Give the support for a universal flood: arguments pro and con.
Definition
Pro - Why stay in the ark for a year?
- the need for an ark, why build an ark if it was a local flood?
- The purpose of the flood was to punish the entire earth
- 2 Pt 3:3-7 speaks of the world being destroyed by water
- the flood lasted over a year (local floods don't last that long)
Cons - Noah's family was too small to care for all the animals
- Flood was too recent to allow for the current population
- There is not enough water to cover the entire earth
- The ark would have capsized
- The size of the ark is not big enough for every animal on earth
Term
Give biblical support for the unconditional nature of the Abrahamic Covenant
Definition
- The covenant was declared eternal in Genesis 17:7
- The Lord made no conditions in Genesis 12:1-3 when he promised He would bless Abraham
- The promises repeated in Scripture are never dependant on Abraham's faithfulness
- When God performed the divine ritual in Genesis 15:7-21, God passed through the split animal alone indicating that the fulfilment was dependant on God alone.
- Hebrews 6:13-18 calls the covenant immutable
Term

Jordan Rift Valley - Part of a major fault-line that runs from East Africa. The lowest point on earth (above water). Natural border between cis-jordan (west) and transjordan (east). Territories were divided by deep river gorges.
Transjordan - Term referring to the area to the East of the Rift Valley. Similar to cis-jordan in that there is a transition from dry wilderness to hill country as one moves west to east. Enhabited in Ancient times by the Arameans, Ammonites, Moabites, and Edomites (listed north to south). Territories were divided by deep river gorges.
