Definition
The women had an important job while the men were hunting. They looked after the lodges, made sure children were safe. They farmed crops and did any housework that needed to be done.

Definition
uring the day they would take care of the longhouse, attend to the gardens, make meals and collecting food. The women were equally as important as the men because the woman attended to the foods while the men were doing their tasks. If the men didn't have the woman at the long houses and taking care of everything then they would have to work harder and they would need to split the current groups in half.

Definition
For food men hunted large animals like beavers, bears, wolves, moose and deer while women hunt rabbits, foxes, pigeons and ducks from November to February. Then from march to April, they would tap maple trees for syrup to make sugar. In may the Anishinabe fish because rice stocks are low. The months of June and July are dedicated to crops like corn, potatoes, and squash. Also getting birch bark for canoes and homes and gathering ripe berries. They move to rice camps in august still fishing and trapping while waiting for the rice to ripen. Last, in September and October, the rice is ripe and the cycle starts again.

Definition
The role of men was warriors, tradesmen, and hunters. They would hunt the animals then bring them back for the women to prepare meals. The tradesmen would go and trade things with other tribes.

They made sure that their families had everything they needed to survive. They raised the children. Although the leaders were usually men, the women could voice their concerns, they also helped to decide to go to war or not. There were also a lot of female elders, plus they would help hunt for small game and they would prepare the meat.

The men were hunters and fishers they hunted for large game. They were also the warriors and leaders of the Mi’kmaq tribe. They would make the tools that helped them hunt and fish like spears. They protected the women and children of their family clans.

What was the great law of peace?
Definition
A peace agreement used by the Haudenosaunee. It included burying all weapons under the peace tree and not fighting between clans.

How was the Anishinabe group structured
Definition
They all were individual villages but were in contact with each other and sometimes made short term alliances. The clan system was on of the ways that the anishinabe met their needs. The people organized themselves into seven clans (Bird, Marten, Fish, Loon, Crane, Bear and Deer) Each clan had duties in which they had to do for the good of the nation. The loon and crane clan was in charge of leadership, the fish clan was in charge of teaching the children and solving disputes, the Marten clan were hunters -and gatherers and warriors, the bird clan were spiritual leaders, the deer clan were in charge of maintaining and creating shelter, and the bear clan was in charge of patrolling and policing the community.

In the Mi'kmaq the womens opinions were considered, however they could not participate in the decision making.

Definition
The Loon and Crane leaders made the decisions. Members of the crane clan lead matters outside the village while The loon member lead matters inside the village. When there was a disagreement the FIsh clan solved it.

Definition
The Mi’kmaq leaders would not tell their people what to or to not do they were chosen for their ability to reach decisions such as going to war or not. They would listen to all the men and women's concerns then they would go to the seven districts grand council and make the decision. This process of decision making is called consensus.

They would all come together and vote on a decision that was being made. The Clan mother would be the one who decides.

They had a Grand Council to help solve problems among the Mi’kmaq tribe.They would usually pick someone good at hunting a finding game, they had the power to had the power to make war or peace. They also divided hunting and fishing between clans.

The Iroquois had elected chiefs. These chiefs would attend the Iroquois council where major decisions were made regarding the Five Nations. Each tribe also had its own leaders to make local decisions.
