- When walking up to a horse you should always talk to the horse.
- You should walk up to the horse from the side so the horse can see you.
- Once you are close to the horse you can touch the horse on the neck or the shoulder

Definition
- Before leading a horse make sure the lead rope is hooked to the halter
- Once the lead rope is hooked do not wrap the lead rope tightly around your hand.
- Leave it lose
- Once you are ready to walk make sure to keep the horse at your side or behind you.
- NEVER IN FRONT!!!!!

- You should stand at the side of the horse
- NEVER BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF THE HORSE
- If behind the horse, it cannot see you
- If you are in front of the horses nose it cannot see you
- If you need to walk behind the horse walk close enough so if the horse would kick it would not have as much power
