| In December 1776, Washington came up with a plan to accack the Hessian mercenaries in Trenton. Patriot troops crossed the Delaware in rowboats and marched 9 miles. Found the Hessians sleeping. They attacked and the fight only lasted 1 hr before the Hessians surrendered. Victory gave the Americans hope for the future. |
