Term
What is an example of a test that tests lateralization?
Definition
LiSN
Term
What is a test that tests binaural interaction? And what is it really testing?
Definition
MLD. It tests brainstem/soc function.
Term
Pertaining to dichotic listening, what are some tests of binaural integration and binaural separation?
Definition
-Binaural interaction: SSW and dichotic digits (when using both ears) -Binaural separation: competing words, dichotic digit (when having them attend to one ear)
Term
What are some tests for temporal resolution and temporal sequencing?
Definition
Resolution: GIN and random gap detection
Sequencing: PPS
Term
What are some tests for auditory figure ground?
Definition
WIN, SSI, QuickSIN, SPIN, HINT, W-22,, BKBSIN, and Ped Sent ID
Term
-What issues would you see with a right hemisphere lesion?
-What would the results be for PPS, monaural low redundancy, dichotic digits, and SSW?
Definition
-Pragmatic issues (misunderstanding tonal info), poor math skills, and possible attention difficulties.
-PPS: low for labeling and humming
-MLR: could be left ear deficit or could be normal if using non-dominant pathway
-DD: left ear deficit; right ear should be fine
-SSW: More language based than DD but you see the same thing which is a left ear deficit. If you told them to focus on their left ear, they might be able to do it
Term
-What issues would you see with a left hemisphere lesion?
-What tests are affected? SSW vs DD? PPS?
Definition
-Language delay/disorder (not making sound/symbol association), poor reading skills, right ear deficit, and difficulty following directions
-Basically all tests could be affected because he/she can't understand instructions so it might not be auditory processing.
-SSW vs DD: Both would be poor but SSW would be worse because it's more language based.
- PPS: Hum is better than the labeling
Term
-What issues would you see with a corpus callosum lesion?
-What test is affected?
-What would you recommend?
Definition
-Poor coordination and difficulty hearing in noise.
-PPS-can't label, but can hum. Left hemisphere can't tell what it is, just that it's there because tonal info is processed in the right hemisphere. In order to label it, they need both hemispheres.
-Instruments or sports. Name that tune.
Term
-What issues would you see with a brainstem lesion?
-What test is most sensitive to brainstem lesion?
-What additional test are you supposed to do if the MLD is abnormal?
-When can you start performing MLDs?
Definition
-Main complaint is you can't hear in noise
-MLD
-ABR/ART
-At age 10
