Twain was born on Nov 30, 1835. Twain moved to hometown of Hannibal Missouri at the age of 4. As a young man, Twain worked as a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River. Twain went on to write The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Boys' Ambition, and The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.

Hemingway was born in 1899. We wrote for a newspaper in his younger years before serving in WWI in Italy in the ambulance unit. He ws injured and spent some time in the hospital. After returning to the US, became a reporter for American and Canadian newsparers. He returned to europe to report on events. He spent lots of time in Europe (including his time living in Paris).

Jim Smiley was a man who loved to bet on anything and everything. One day Jim found a frog, named it "Dan'l", and taught it to jump very far. Along came another man and bet Jim that his frog (a random frog) could jimp farther than Dan'l. While Jim had his back turned, the man filled Dan'l with lead shot. Dan'l and Jim lost the bet because of it.
