Definition
Pediatrics- Condition in which the lungs of the newborn remain unexpaned (airless) at birth. Clinically it has been broadened to include partial or total collapse of previously expanded lungs.
For all Age groups- Generally is broadened to include partial or total collapse of previously expanded lung regions. Postoperative Atelectasis commonly seen in after upper abdominal and thoracic surgical procedures. |
