-In young people with back pain, visceral disease is rarely the first thought as a cause of back pain. Prostatitis can be the cause of back pain of unknown origin in youn males.

Low-rep max weightlifting and eccentrics are NOT good. Exercise is best in pool and any exercise with minimal fatigue. Monitor respiratoy function closely.

Definition
Frequent changes in position to prevent skin problems. Watch for pneumonia. Pharynx may need suctioning and feeding should be done slowly. Respiratory weakness and diminished head control may prevent child from benefiting from prone position. Make sure if in prone, child can clear airway. Monitor oxygen satruation levels.

What are the precautions when working with a patient with osteogenesis imperfecta?
Definition
Require careful handling to prevent fractures. Must be supported when they are being turned, positioned, moved, burped, and cuddle or held. Diaper changing must be done very gently and never lifting legs by ankles. PROM cna be done but with caution. Rotational forces are contraindicated. Gentle stretches in straight plane are good. Child must be encouraged to use full AROM without force. Strengthening exercises should avoid placing weight near joint lines, and if manual resistance is applied, long lever arms should be avoided.

Definition
Centerd on stabilizing or increasing bone mass, preventing fractures, maximizin physical performance and function, improving quality of life, and managing symptoms, especially in the presence of pain from fractures or deformity

Osteoporosis results in a loss of bone mass and brittle bones. Osteomalacia is a progressive disease in which lack of mineralization of new bone matrix results in a softening of bone without loss of the present bone matrix

What are the differences between Paget's dz and osteoporosis?
Definition
Paget's dz occurs in the adult, characterized by abnormal bone remodeling with increased bone resorption and excessive, unorganzied new bone formation caused by activated osteoclasts. The normal bone marrow is eventually replaced by vascular and fibrous tissue. High bone turnover, but the excess bone lacks structural stability
