Fixation is the mouth - as babies we receive gratification through biting, chewing, and teething
If we become overly fixated at this stage, we may seek more gratification in the future by smoking or overeating (pleasures from the mouth)

Fixation is Bowel Movement - infants begin to obtain control over their environment usual anal muscles when beginning to be toilet trained
If we become fixated at this stage, a personality develops where a person's environment is overly messy, OR if overly fixated, we become anal retentive. |

Fixation are the Genitals - child becomes curious of their sexual organs and explores others.
OEDIPUS COMPLEX - when child has an attraction to their opposite sex parents and represses their same-sex parent due to competition.
CASTRATION ANXIETY - fear that when seeing mother, that her genitals has been cut off, fearing that the father will do the same to them. This results in the male child repressing the mother and becoming attached to the father figure in fear of castration.
If fixation occurs, a persons will feel consistent guilt and anxiety of sex |
