- physician paralyzes the patient in preperation for the procedure (so when patient seizes, wont go out of control)
- physician induces a generalized seizure in patient so brain shut down the seizure
- many cascades turn the brain back to its normal state
- causes memory problems (use bitemporal lobe, but now we do one temporal lobe)
