With the exception of the inf. oblique, all of the extraocular muscles originate at the _____________________? |

Definition
Annulus of Zinn
(its a fibrinous ring that encircles the optic foramen/nerve) |
|
|
Term
Levator muscles (originating near the annulus of Zinn) raise the upper eye lids while obicularis oculi muscle causes eyelid contraction. Does contraction increase or decrease IOP? |

Definition
orbit = 30ml
eyeball = 7ml
(the rest being fat and fibrinous tissue) |

What lies between the retina and sclera, composed of blood vessel layers, & connects w/ the ciliary body at the front of the eye and is attached to edges of the optic nerve and the back of the eye? |

|
Term
There are many branches off of the opthalmic artery. Name them and briefly decribe how they supply the choroid. |
|
Definition
1) Posterior branches will become the central retinal artery and cliiary arteries on each side of the optic nerve.
2) These vessels divide into 2 post. ciliary arteries and many short post. ciliary arteries (which enter the eye immediately adjacent to & around the optic nerve).
3) The short ciliary arteries directly supply the choroid
4) The long post. ciliary arteries travel in the suprachoroidal space anteriorly then supply the choroid via recurrent branches.
