A conquistador is a Spanish explorer.

Swineherd

A swineherd is a person who cares for pigs.

Temples

Temples were important to the Inca.  They went to the temples to worship their many gods, such as Inti the sun god.

Gold Ornaments

The Inca had so much gold, they used it to make items for everyday life.  The Inca made religious statues, utensils, and art out of gold. 

Civil War

The Inca were in the middle of a civil war when Pizarro arrived.  Inca warriors were fighting against other Inca warriors for control of the empire.

Subdued

Subdued is another word for conquered.  Spain subdued the Inca Empire.  Pizarro killed the Inca emperor and claimed the area for Spain.

Ingots

Pizarro and the Spaniards melted the Incan gold ornaments into ingots.  Ingots are gold bars. 

Founded

Pizarro founded the city of Lima, Peru.  This means he started this city and claimed this area for Spain.

Assassinated

Assassinate means to have someone killed.  Pizarro was assassinated because he was too greedy over the gold.
