Definition
Erythropoiesis-stimulating agent used to increase production of erythrocytes.
Increases risk for hypertension, blod clots, strokes and MI.
Do not take if Hx of CHF, HTN, stroke, MI, blood clots, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, cancer or epilepsy, seizure disorders or pregnancy.
Check CBC regularly, monitor BP.
Reduces need for blood transfusion. |
