Classification: Non-Selective Beta Blocker (B1 & B2), Antianginal, Antiarrhythmics (Class II), Antihypertensives, Vascular Headache Suppressants Purpose: Decreased Heart Rate and Blood Pressure, Suppression of Arrhythmias, Prevention of MI Indication: Hypertension, Angina Pectoris, MI, Dysrrhythmias Adverse: (Primarily Extensions of Pharm Effect) Fatigue, Weakness, Arrhythmias, Bradycardia, CHF, PUlmonary Edema (most are mild and will get better in time), Insomnia, Mental Changes, Nausea, Diarrhea, Heart Block, Narrowed Airways (make asthma worse)
Acute Withdrawal Can Cause: -Make Angina Worse -Precipitate an Acute MI -Signs of Hypoglycemia (dizzy, headache, jittery, anxious)
