Term
Epi, NE, Dopamine, Dobutamine |
|
Definition
- Epi, NE not too useful
- Dopamine and Dobutamine stimulate B1 receptors to increase CO with less vasoconstriction (less A1 activation)
- All have limited use; can't use with a patient on Beta blockers

|
|
Term
|
Definition
- PDE3 inhibitor
- increased cAMP levels to increase contraction
- Mimics dopamine and dobutamine
- Short term use only, IV
- Can work with B-blockers: works downstream from them

|
Term
|
Definition
- Cardiac glycoside
- Decrease Ca efflux (Na/CA exchanger inhibited via Na/K pump inhibition)
- Indirect by increasing intracellular Na: decreased Ca efflux through exchanger.
- Decreased automaticity, slow conduction, very arrhythmogenic (AV block)
- Also increased PANS activity, stimulated CNS vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea, blurred vision
- Narrow therapeutic index, lots of drug interactions (increased binding with low K+)

|
Term
|
Definition
- Enhances contractile process directly; Ca sensitizer
- Increases calcium binding to troponin C
- Not assoc w/ arrhythmias
