Non selective Alpha Adrenergic Blocker
- Long acting, Irreversible. Non competetive. The only way to overcome is to synthesize new receptors
- used in severe hypertensive episodes from Catecholamine Release (Phechromocytoma)
- Long Term Treatment for Inoperable Pheochromocytoma
- Blocks both intra- and extrasynaptic alpha 2 receptors

Non Selective Alpha Adrenergic Blocker
- Short Acting, irreversible
- Used to diagnose Pheochromocytoma (give 5mg of this drug, if transient fall in BP, then positive result)
- Used during surgical removal of Pheochromocytoma to prevent rise in BP
- Used to reverse excess acute systemic vasoconstriction and hypertension
- prevents local tissue necrosis from an accidental injection of Alpha agonist
- New form (Oravers) to reverse numbing at dentist.
