What are the 4 stages of fever and what happens in each?
Definition
1. Prodromal- Temp is rising but still with in normal limits. Other systemic symptoms begin.
2. Chill- although temp is rising, person feels cold. Exhibits shivering and goosebumps.
3. Flush- Temp reaches new set point. Chills stop & vasodilation increases skin warmth and color.
4. Defeverence- The person feels hot and begins to sweat.
