E.1.2 What is the function of: - Receptors
- Sensory Neurones
- Relay Neurones
|
|
Definition
The function of: Receptors is to register and respond to stimuli, e.g Pupil is made smaller in bright light. Sensory Neurones is to carry the signal from the receptors to part of the CNS (Central nervous system)
Relay Neurones is to carry the signal from the CNS to the motor nerone via synapses.

E.1.2 What is the function of: - Motor Neurones
- Synapses
- Effectors
|
|
Definition
The function of: - Motor Neurones is to carry the signal from the relay neurone to the effector.
- Synapses is the tiny gap between the ends on two neurones where the signal is transfered by means of a neurotransmitter (Chemical transmitter).
- Effectors are the muscles, organs or glands that carry out the response to the stimuli e.g. contract in a muscle.
