Regional or Segmental Technique For: Thoracic articular flexion restriction: Ex: T7 ERrSr; T7 flexion restriction Pt: seated, passive Physician: stand/sit next to pt Action: Hand1: on contralateral shoulder; Hand2: stabilize T8 - grasp T8 spinous process w/ thumb/index/long fingers (Stabilize BELOW "T#" that is restricted Fulcrum: sternum Induce flexion at Inferior articular facet joint "Engage Restrictive Barrier", Rhythmic Fashion, Until: increased ROM toward barrier *if multiple vertebra are restricted: start at top & work inferior Retest |

Regional or Segmenal Technique Articular Extension Restriction Ex: T7 FRrSr; T7 extension restriction Pt: Seated, passive Physician: On side of pt, Hand1 on contralateral shoulder; Hand2 stabilizing on inferior Vertebra in regard to restricted vertebra; Stabilize w/: thumb, index, long fingers OR *Press anteriorly with Thenar Eminence Action: Translates stabilized vertebra Anteriorly & Extends segments above to induce segmental extension at T7 restricted Inferior Articular Facet Jt, "Engage Restrictive Barrier- Rhythmic Fashion until increased ROM toward physiological barrier - return ToWard* neutral Regional Restrictions: move from superior to inferior completing technique Retest* |
