Term
1. God is the greatest possible being which can be concieved (thought) of.
Definition
This means that God will have all good aspects or predicates associated with him and so will be the best ever thing, that can be thought of.
Term
2. God may exist either in the mind alone (in intellectu) or in reality (in re) as well.
Definition
This means that the best possible thing, God, needs to exist to be the greatest possible thing otherwise it will not be considered the greatest possible thing. It has to have the predicate of EXISTENCE.
Term
3. Something which exists in reality and the mind is better than something that exists in the mind alone.
Definition
If we take the example of the Perfect Island, we would hope that it would exist and so if it exists it is better than if it didn't and was only in the mind.
Term
4. Therefore, God must exist in reality and in the mind.
Definition
If God exists in the mind and reality it is better because then he really is the best he can be as he has the predicate of existence as well as the others like: benevolent, omnisicent and omnipotent.
