Action:                      

Reduces the activity of the vagus nerve, which deactivates

the vomiting center in the medulla oblongata

Serotonin receptor antagonist

Indications:           

Nausea/Vomiting

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity

Adverse Effects:     

Gastrointestinal  

 constipation      

Neurological              

headache

dizziness       

Administration:      

   4-8 mg IV/IM

 4 mg SL

Pediatrics:    

 Same as adult for patients 4 y/o and older

Onset:                  

Duration:                  

               Onset:         10-30 minutes  

Duration:    8 hours
