What is the purpose of supervision by a licensed psychologist? |

Definition
A. Protect welfare of clients
B. Protect welfare of persons serving as training subjects for psychological procedures, classroom demonstrations, or research.
C. Structure activities so that competent services of a psychological nature are safely available for clients.
D. Assure fucntioning within limits of competence.
E. Assure that individuals seeking licensure receive training in a variety of activities relevant to professional practice and academic background.
F. For licensed persons seeking supervision to expand competence or satisfy retraining requirements
G. Non-exploitative employment/training experiences
H. Be available for general administrative, supervisory, and mental health experience to regulate delivery of service. |

The professional oversight of persons who work under the licensing authority of the licensed psychologist.

Psychological work must be consistent with previous academic and professional training (dydactic and practica) of the supervisor and the supervisee.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Definition
- Shall not provide supervision to someone who has administrative or funding authority over him/her
- Supervisor cannot be employed by a supervisee
- If supervisor is not employed, supervisee may pay a fee for individual face-to-face supervision in a private practice setting at supervisor's standard hourly rate.
- If supervisor charges hourly rate, supervisee receives all fees for reimbursement for all clients (minus reasonable overhead).
- No direct family relationship between supervisor and supervisee
- No business relationships, except if supervisee is employed by supervisor for psychology practice.
- No supervising work that psychology isn't competent to provide
- no supervising anyone providing psychology services illegally
- Supervise persons who have completed approrpiate academic or professional preparation or are making progress towards completion.
- Not concurrently supervise more than 4 unlicensed persons without written permission from the Board
- does not apply to MH Workers
- Ensure supervisee is competent to provide services
- Responsible for psychological prescription, diagnosis, and supervision of clients. Can not be delegated to a non-psychologist or work supervisee...except a training supervisee as part of his/her training
