- Patients on fluid restrictions
- Patients receiving IV fluids or Total Parenteral Nutrition
- Patients on diuretic therapy, for example, Lasix
- Post- operative patients
- Cardiac or renal patients
- Febrile patients ( why?)
- Patients who are hemodynamically unstable or critically ill
