Indications: moderate to severe pain
Contraindications: hypotension, hypersensitivity to drug
Dose: 2-10mg

Adverse Effects: hypotension, bradycardia, vomitting, syncope, apnea, resp. depression, nausea, tachycardia.
Other: use appropriate monitor. Naloxone is antagonist. |

Action: Opioid antagonist w/o opiate agonist properties. Has no activity when given in absence of opiates.
Indications: Partial reversal of opiate drug effects. Opiate overdose.
Contraindications: hypersensitivity.
Dose: 0.4-2.0mg
Route: IV, IO, IM, SQ, IN, Neb.
Adverse Effects: Fever, chills, vomitting, diarrhea, nausea, opiate withdrawal.
Other: Administer enough to reverse resp depression and avoid full narcotic withdrawal syndrome. |
