Jackson   1   introduction

• about 300 people in the town 
• introduced Bobby and Harry Jones Dickie Delacroix
• activities were square dancing teen clubs, and a alloween program 
• Mr. summers ran the coal business
• he had no children and wife was scold 

Jackson  2-3    the box 

• box got shabbier each year
• not black anymore but scared badly
• Mr. summers wanted to use chips of wood instead of paper
• the box was in Mr. Graves barn one year, then at the post office 
• it was hard for them to remember the ritual

Jackson 4-6  the argument

• when they open their slips of paper they notice black dot and hurry and rush Mr. summers.
• Mr. summers reminds everyone the lottery rules
• noone should look at the paper until every card has been drawn 
• when the are finished calling names everyone can open their paper

Jackson  7  the box 

• The hutchison notice their card has a black dot on it 
• the villigers forgot the ritual and forgot the original black box
• the still rememberd to use the stones 
• stones were on the ground with strips of paper
