Term
13DG
Describe the purpose of 13DG. |
Definition
-Power to LC-107/108 including UPS Y91 on loss of normal power. -Provides emergency power to plant computer systems and other auxiliaries. |
Term
13DG
Describe the auto start of the 13DG. |
Definition
-Loss of voltage to LC-107 for 10 seconds. -Once at rated speed and voltage (about 12 seconds) the normal and alt feed to LC-107 open and 13DG output breaker closes. -Will shed 11SW pump and substation aux loads breaker. -If loss of voltage to LC-108 for 10 seconds then will close the LC-107/108 tie breaker. |
Term
13DG
Describe breaker interlocks for LC-107/108 and 13DG. |
Definition
-If both LC-107/108 feeder breakers and tie breaker closed then 13DG output cannot shut. -If LC-107/108 feeder breakers and 13DG output breaker closed sends signal to open the tie breaker. |
Term
13DG
Describe normal shutdown. |
Definition
-Automatic no load cooldown for 15 minutes at which point is stops. |
Term
13DG
Describe the governor operations. |
Definition
-Can operate in isochronous or droop mode. -If not in parallel then will automatically operate in isochronous mode. -If in parallel (senses breaker positions) regulates in droop per the setting (0-13%). |

Term
13DG
Describe the lube oil cooler. |
Definition
-Limits oil temp to 210F. -Alarm at 230F. |
Term
13DG
Describe fuel oil supply. |
Definition
-Fuel pump driven by an accessory shaft from the lube oil pump. -From day tank through filter to transfer pump to main engine filter to fuel racks. -Maintainless than 125F for no flashing. |
Term
13DG
Describe 13DG day tank filling. |
Definition
-Normally from truck. -Emergency from heating boiler storage. -Backup from portable gas pump from EDG storage tank. |
Term
13DG
Describe system starter. |
Definition
-Uses 2 independent 24Vdc starting subsystems, each with its own 24Vdc battery. -Best battery selector selects battery with highest voltage for start. |
Term
13DG
Describe the power rating. |
Definition
Term
13DG
Describe the protective device trips. |
Definition
-EMCP will detect a demand for an emergency stop. -Engine will s/d by fuel control shut off. -Some trips have air shut offs. -On any trip if the engine is not s/d in 10 seconds then the air shut-off valve closes. |
Term
13DG
Describe the air shut off valve. |
Definition
-On any trip if engine is not shut down in 10 seconds the air shut-off valve closes. -Stays closed for 15-20 seconds after engine reaches zero. |
Term
13DG
Describe the 13DG trips. |
Definition
-Overspeed: 2160rpm (120%), fuel and air. -Low lube oil pressure when > 1210rpm: < 30# for 9 seconds, fuel only. -Low lube oil pressure when < 1210rpm: <10# for 9 seconds, fuel only. High coolant temp: > 225F for 10 seonds, fuel only. -Overcrank: fails to start w/in 90 seconds after initial demand (5 crank/rest cycles) start logic stops (cycle 10seconds), must reset to start again. -Manual: Red emergency stop, air and fuel. -Manual: Manual close of ASOV or fuel rack handle. -Manual: Switch to OFF/RESET, fuel. -Generator breaker trip: auto trip of DG. |
