- Exposition: begins with Moshe the Beadle giving him his religous teaching
- Rising Action: his faith was shaken when Moshe the Beadle was deported. When he was deported his train was overtaken by Nazis and his companions were mutilated.
- Moshe returns and warns them but most don't believe him.
- Climax: You see his faith dwinding away more when they arrive at Aushwitz. Him and his father are separated from the rest of family.
- It was very bad conditions on the train.

- There are selections, they are forced to watch other prisoners be hung.
- Falling Action: Eliezer got a foot inury. While he was in the infirmary the Nazis decide to evacuate the camp because the Russians were on the verge of liberating Buna.
- Forced to march in middle of the night. Many died from harsh weather and abuse.
- 12 arrive at Buchenwald, his father dies of dysentary and physical abuse
- Resolution: Eliezer survives his faith gone.
