Term

A, Oblique: fracture at oblique angle across bothcortices. Cause: Direct or indirect energy, withangulation and some compression.
B, Occult
:Fracture that is hidden or not readily discernible.Cause: Minor force or energy.
C, Open:
Skinbroken over fracture; possible soft tissue trauma.Cause: Moderate to severe energy that iscontinuous and exceeds tissue tolerances.
D,Pathologic: transverse, oblique, or spiral fractureof bone weakened by tumor pressure or presence
.Cause: Minor energy or force, which may be director indirect.

Definition
Term

E, Comminuted: Fracture with two ormore pieces or segments. Cause: Direct orindirect moderate to severe force.

F, Spiral:Fracture that curves around cortices and maybecome displaced by twist. Cause: Direct orindirect twisting energy or force with distal partheld or unable t move.
G, Transverse: horizontalbreak through bone. Cause: Direct or indirectenergy toward bone.
H, Greenstick: Break in onlyone cortex of bone. Cause: Minor direct or indirectenergy.
I, Impacted:
Fracture with one endwedged into opposite end of inside fracturedfragment.Cause: Compressive axial energy orforce directly to distal fragment.

Tendonitis / Bursitis

what? What does it cause?

Definition

WHAT: Inflammation of a tendon or bursa (small sacs lined w/synovial membrane/filled w/synovial fluid – lie between tendons/muscles/bony prominences)
WHAT DOES IT CAUSE: Inflammation causes local changes in the tissue, resulting in pain with movement
FROM: overuse or trauma
