Insertion:  Achilles tendon to calcaneus

Action:  Plantarflexion of the ankle

Muscle:  Plantaris

Origin:  Lateral condyle femur

Insertion:  Achilles tendon to calcaneus

Action:  Plantarflexion of the ankle adn flexion of the knee

Muscle:  Pectinius

Origin:  Pubis

Insertion:  Lesser trochanter to linea aspera of femur

Action:  adducts, flexes and medial rotates the thigh

Muscle:  Iliacus

Origin:  Iliac fossa

Insertion:  lesser trochanter of the femur

Action:  flexes the hip

Muscle:  Gracialis

Origin:  Pubis (inferior)

Insertion:  medial suface of tibia

Action:  adducts the thigh, flexes the knee

Muscle:  vastus medialis

Origin:  linea aspera, introchanteric line

Insertion:  patella and tibial tuberosity

Action:  extension of the knee

Muscle:  vastus lateralis

Origin:  greater trochanter, linea aspera and intertrochanteric line of femur

Insertion:  patella and tibial tuberostiy

Action:  extension of the knee

Muscle:  vastus intermedius

Origin:  anteriro surface of femur

Insertion:  patella and tibial tuberosity

Action:  extension of the knee

Muscle:  Semitendinosus

Origin:  ishial tuberosity

Insertion:  medial tibia

Action:  extends the hip and flexes the knee

Muscle:  rectus femoris

Origin:  anterior inferior iliac spine

Insertion:  patella and tibial tuberosity

Action:  extends the knee and flexes the hip

Muscle:  popliteus

origin:  posterolateral femur

Insertion:  posteromedial tibia

Action:  flexes the knee

Muscle:  gastrocnemius

Origin:  two heads from medial and lateral condyles of femur

Insertion:  achilles tendon to calcaneus

Action:  plantarflexion of the ankle and flexion of the knee
