Origin- Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine (AIIS) superior to acetabulum
Insertion-Base of patella and by patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
Innervation- Femoral nerve
Action- extends the knee, assists iliopsoas to flex the hip joint, steadies the hip joint |

Origin- Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS) and upper half of the notch below the spine
Insertion- Superior part of the medial surface of the tibia
Innervation- Femoral nerve
Action- Flexion, abduct and lateral rotation of the thigh at hip joint and flexion of the leg at knee joint. |
