What happens in interphase I and prophase I? |
|
Definition
During interphase I, chromosomes are duplicated. The sister chromatids then attach to their homologous pair (giving 23 tetrads) in a process known as synapsis.
During prophase I, there is crossover at chiasma between the homologous chromosomes. These new chromosomes are called recombinant chromosomes.
The rest of meiosis I and meiosis II generally resembles mitosis. |
