Definition: The climax is the turning point of the story where the main problem reaches its most intense moment. It is usually the most exciting part.

 

Example: In Cinderella, the climax happens when the prince searches for the mystery girl, and Cinderella’s stepmother locks her away to prevent her from trying on the glass slipper.

Definition: The falling action occurs after the climax and shows how the conflict starts to be resolved. It ties up loose ends and leads toward the conclusion.

 

Example: In Cinderella, the falling action happens when Cinderella tries on the glass slipper, proving she was the girl from the ball.
