Definition
The Schlieffen Plan was a German battle plan that Germany tried to initiate before the Russians could fully mobilize their forces. It did not work because the Allied forces succeeded. They tried to have Russia fight France in the West and Russia in the East to spread them thinly.

Definition
-He ended up losing many battles after he took over the military. This was detrimental to the image of the autocratic tzar because it showed he could not be an international success, and therefore, he was incompetent.

In 1917, the United States entered the war. Germany had no choice: either keep America out of it and not resume unrestricted submarine warfare, or attempt to annihilate the British navy with unrestricted warfare. They resumed the unrestricted naval warfare, and then they were “toast."
