Definition
- An outside force that a character struggles with throughout the play. The larger external conflict that Anne faces is the Nazi regime which has forced her into hiding. In class you learned that one of the Themes in the play is dealing with human existence. What does Anne's diary represent in terms of theme? |
Definition
Diary's typically show a persons deepest emotions in an authentic way. It shows us how people act when no one is looking. Anne's diary is a witness account of the horrible things that were happening during World War II. Her diary shows the lives of Jewish people who were forced to deal with a horrible future and how they interacted with each other on a day to day basis. An example would be the wonderful Hanukkah celebration they participated in - even in dire circumstances people can come together and create joy and happiness. |
