| A schism is a split, or division.Eastern and western parts of the church, because of two things.The political and cultural tension was growing between them.Also, the east thought that the west was barbaric and unintelligent.Eastern called themselves Eastern Orthodox Church, and west called themselves Roman Catholic church.Eastern Orthodox followed teachings of Constantine, while Roman Catholic followed Charlemagne.Roman Catholics headquaters was based in Rome, while Eastern Orthodox was based in Constantinople.Both churchs followed its own tradition, language and liturgical customs.They both kept the same creed, moral codes, and sacraments. |
