view that host country knows the best approaches and practices for running operations. managers see every operation in this way as different and hard to understand, likely to just let the foreign employees run things. this gives better knowledge of foreign market and workplace more support from host govt and you get committed local managers with high morale. but you also get duplication of work, reduced efficiency and becomes difficult to maintain global objectives because of intense focus on local traditions

world-oriented view that uses best approaches from ppl around globe. managers with this view believe its important to have global view at HQ and home country and in various foreign workplaces. requires more sensitivity to differences in national customs and practices. forces understanding of global issues, balanced local and global objectives, best work approaches used regardless of origin but it is difficult to achieve and manager must have both local and global knowledge
