 Definition
• Prefixes is word element placed before a root
• Prefix olig (scant, small amount) is place before the root uria (urine) to make oliguria. It means a scant amount of urine.

• Suffix is a word element placed after a root. It changes the meaning of the word.
• Nephritis means inflammation of the kidney. It was formed by combining nephro (kidney) and itis (inflammation).
