Definition

Origin: Body of pubis inf. to pubic crest.


Insertion: Middle 1/3 of linea aspera.


Action: ADD of thigh.


Innervation: Ant. division, obturator n. (L2, L3, L4)


Blood: Ant. branch obturator a.

Term

Adductor Brevis

Definition

Origin: Body and inf. ramus  of pubis.


Insertion: Pectineal line and proximal part of linea aspera.


Action: ADD and limited flexion of thigh.


Innervation: Ant. division, obturator n. (L2, L3, L4)


Blood: Ant. branch obturator a.

Term

Adductor Magnus

Definition

Origin: Adductor part- Inf. ramus of pubis, ramus of ischium.

           Hamstring part- Ischial tuberosity.


Insertion: Adductor part- Gluteal tuberosity, linea aspera, med. supracondylar line.

               Hamstring part- Adducor tubercle. 

Action: ADD of thigh; Aductor part- flexes thigh; Hamstring part extends thigh.

Innervation: Adductor part- post. division, obturator n. (L2, L3, L4)

                   Hamstring part- Tibial division of sciatic n. (L4).

Blood: Ant. branch obturator a.

Gracilis 

Definition

Origin: Body and inf. ramus of pubis.


Insertion:
Sup. part of med. surface of tibia (pes anserinus)


Action: ADD thigh, flexes leg; IR of leg.


Innervation: Obturator n. (L2, L3)


Blood: Ant. branch obturator a.

Obturator Externus

Definition

Origin: Margins of obturator foramen and obturator membrane.


Insertion: Trochanteric fossa of femur.


Action: ER of thigh; steadies femoral head.


Innervation: Obturator n. (L3, L4)


Blood: Ant. branch obturator a.
